With the race for Governor of California heating up unusually early, there have been some strong candidates out there, with Gavin Newsom looking like the initial favorite. All of the candidates, though, seem to be politicians. In fact, the only businessman considering a run is Tom Steyer, and even he is the head of several progressive initiatives.
The Democratic Primary may be shaken up though, if reports are to be believed. According to our sources, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is currently exploring a run for Governor of California. His internal polling shows him at 32%, with Gavin Newsom at 29%, and John Chiang at 16%.
However, sources close to the tech icon have warned that he may not run yet. They state that the only thing that would push him towards a run would be if Facebook dramatically lost members, which is a very real possibility. For more information, read our earlier article on the failure of Facebook.
Thus, the #DraftZuckerberg movement has called for Facebook members to delete their Facebook accounts and join Twitter, as well as spread the movement by tweeting #DraftZuckerberg.
